The Cambodian government has sent a clear message to the international community that it has the teeth to eliminate corrupt elements in its bureaucracy. The new anti-corruption unit has made their first arrests this week when a government prosecutor was held by authorities for alleged abuse of power and extortion which has led to illegal detention of several Cambodians. Phnom Phen is trying to improve its reputation from being one of the most corrupt nations in ASEAN and the entire world.
