Anwar's wife announces candidacy for parliament seat

The wife of detained Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim announced on Saturday that she is running for a seat in parliament that was left vacated following her husband's recent jailing over a controversial sodomy conviction.

Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, 62, will be running for the second time after winning Anwar's seat in 1999 after he was removed as Malaysia's deputy prime minister and was placed in prison for sodomy and corruption charges, which many believed were politically motivated.
